While the processes of modern photography have changed, the concepts remain the same. We create and paint with light, preserving into perpetuity the most seemingly small and insignificant tidbits of history... those of daily life.
Though what we once applied in the camera and dark room is now completed on the computer screen in the form of "post processing," the practices and principles established with film remain constant and unchanged. If you want to improve the present, learn the old and past. Therein lies the foundation.
Film is still viable and making a comeback. It has way more latitude than digital. Most commercial arts programs in the high schools and colleges still have a required section where they must shoot projects with film. After passing that section, they then move into digital formats.
The more things change, the more they remain the same.
